Made in Guinea, though used as a popular instrument throughout Africa, the Balefon is played by all. The frame and keys are constructed from hardwood. There are four gourd resonators, located underneath, that supply the sound. This instrument most closely resembles the more common xylophone and is played the same way. The Balefon offered here measures 20 1/2 inches long. Two wooden rubber tipped sticks are included. Our selections are aquired for having excellent sound! They are for playing, not just for show.
