The Baule do not hold objects in high esteem for aesthetic reasons rather they focus on the spiritual presence that is related to the object. The mask offered here is a beautiful modern rendition of the Baule Rams Head masks. This facial covering has been used and has a few nicks on the bottom back rim that in no way detracts froms the beauty of the mask. This is a very well carved attractive mask that will make for an excellent African art wall accent. Normally our tastes are geared for the more traditional works but when an item is well carved, from good stock and atractive the selection is deemed worthy. This is one of those items!
