The Kaka tribe lives in the west of Cameroon, in the Mbem area, in the south of the Mambila's territory. The Kaka's name is an old nickname given to them by the Peuls Fulani tribes. It is a small ethnic group of only approximately 18,000 people living in some 18 villages. Given their location along the Donga river, some authors consider them a subethnic group of the Mambila tribe. The Kaka themselves claim to be Tikar, like thier southern neighbors with whom they share customs. Among them and one of the most essential is the veneration of ancestors. Our offering is a spear crafted in the mid 20th century. The 14 inch spearhead is attached well onto the shaft. The shaft itself is highly patinated and features a metal ring set near the top end. The spear is heavy, balanced and well built. This selection is appreciated for its origin, age and craftsmanship. The shaft is not perfectly straight which is a true indicator of authenticity. We are very pleased with this selection.
