With that in mind, our admiration and respect for the MaKonde tribe artisans of Tanzania deepens. The MaKonde who have been working with ebony wood for over 500 years are indeed world renown for their artistic out put. The pair of three-dimensional carvings offered here are fine representations of the MaKonde craft. Having the contrasting lighter toned tree bark left intact as a backing highlights these finely detailed figures.
