To the peoples of Eastern Africa a spear is more than a weapon. It is a cultural identifier and a source of personal pride. For example, East Africans who are mainly pastoral people, utilize spears with extremely long spearheads to prick the ears of cattle with patterned marks. These marks help to distinguish one tribes’ cattle from another. There are spears used only during dancing ceremonies each with slender imposing spearheads and adorned with special tribal ornamentation. Hunting spears, a primary offensive and defensive weapon often lend to classify the social ranking and or status of the owner, from a young uncircumcised boy to a seasoned warrior. They are tall, well balance items that are carried with the utmost of pride. The weapon is a three piece configuration. The spear head and the metal end of the butt are attached by hardened wax and socketing to the opposite ends of the middle section, the wooden grip. The entire piece was hand crafted in Africa. This long selection is well crafted, authentic and exhibits expert metal working technique. The price is for one spear.
