Africans are responsible for inherit tribal/ritualistic forms that are considered great works of art throughout the world. African artisans, amazing enough to this day, use the same methods and techniques as their forefathers in the creation of these objects. The variation seems endless; from towering wooden shoulder masks, imposing nail and feathered statues to dazzling beaded paraphernalia, uniquely carved utilitarian pieces and skillfully molded pottery selections to mention a few. The above vessel is an excellent example of hand crafted pottery from the country of Niger. Perfectly formed, left in natural tone with a hint of reddish trim the pot serves as a superb old world decorative artifact. The Niger pot is over 15 years of age.
