The Tuareg of the Sahara make some of the most notable and distinguished jewelry in all of Africa. The Tuareg jewelers are extremely adept in their craft and prefer to use pure African silver which they consider sacred, silver nickel alloy, leather and beads in their tribal workings. Tuareg necklaces, pendants, rings and pins are celebrated worldwide for their unique forms which have been coupled with deep traditional Berber etchings that translate into protective symbolism. "God is the center of the universe, we are one with God" and "no matter where you go God and I shall always be with you and protect you" are common Saharan interpretations of the old Berber scripts. In this selection the artisan has drawn upon the old and traditional which are the writings and silver alloy and joined them with a creative endeavor of his own when forming the shape of this pendant. A black beaded chain with 4 silver cylindrical segments is attached to this unique Tuareg selection.
