Product Description

When we think of African art, statues and masks usually come to mind. However, since the earliest of times, Africans were skilled jewelers. They made a wide variety of necklaces, chokers, and countless other selections. African jewelry is as variegated as the African people themselves. Armed perhaps with the richest natural resources in the world; the African jeweler is constrained by only his imagination and in certain special cases by tribal tradition and superstition. Neck rings are worn by women as indicators of wealth, tribal status and for personal pride; the reasons vary from tribe to tribe. The Mende people for instance believe that a lady with a full neck with many rolls is the epitome of beauty. Many Tuareg women would wear neck rings as a talisman for good fortune and as a sign of physical maturity. Our neck rings are crafted from different metals as indicated below. All of the selections, have been decorated with ebony wood inlays for added beauty. Each ring is pliable. Each ring was crafted by the Tuareg people. Each neck ring is a gorgeous wardrobe accessory. The price is for one.
