The central design of this selection features the Gyenyame symbol. The meaning of Gyenyame is "Except the Lord." In Ghana only the chief of the village could sit on this stool. Once the chief actually sat down on it, it was believed that no man could touch him. The chief feared no man, no body..."Except the Lord." His destiny was in the hand of God and only God and if and when the chief died, regardless of how he died, it was because the Lord took him. No one on earth had any power over the chief..."Except the Lord." The beautiful seat on display features hand cut motifs and trimming. The tin sections have well detailed hand embossments!
