In days of old it was common place for an African to carry valuables in small leather pouches or bundles that were either secured around the waist or worn around the neck area.  The small sac enabled the wearer to steal away only a few but important items such as medicines and currency. Now with a variety of other ways to safeguard personal things, the pouch has not been forgotten but is now primarily used as  a traditional wardrobe accessory worn mainly by African men. Our leather pouch - like pendant feature a thick leather section embellished with a large cowry shell and metal rings, all suspended on a slim leather cord.

Dimensions: The pouch is 2 inches long x 1 1/2 inches wide. The necklace hang length is 12 inches. The pouch is flat and does not open.
